The Lab’s Story

NOT REAL SCIENCE

Eye Protection Optional

The Propagation Lab is what I call my propagation station, AKA the bench in my shed where plants go to be mutilated (with good intentions).

It’s a pretty cool-looking bunch of science equipment sourced from all over the place that I put together to create a little plant corner that I can be proud of and love being in.

I put this site together to inspire both myself and others to keep propagating and growing more plants, different plants, and in different ways. Plants are fun. I stand by that.

Plant + water = science

As you may have realised, I’m not a real scientist (you weren’t convinced by the maths in the title above?). But we as plant enthusiasts are routinely carrying out scientific procedures by supporting and creating new life in our homes and gardens.

Out here in Queensland, the weather is pretty much perfect for growing plants all year round. It’s sunny 300+ days of the year and rarely drops below 20ºC.

As a result of these idyllic conditions, plants thrive.

It’s addicting when you can almost see them growing in front of you. And as with any addiction hobby, buying more plants can get expensive. Well, it turns out you don’t actually need to buy them if you already have them, you can make more for free by propagating them in jars of water! It’s literally cloning life – hell yeah, science!

When you’re ready, this little shop has the info and the tools to help you upgrade your propagation operations and get all scientific on your plants*.

*Science optional. Chucking plant stems in water welcomed.

The Lab's MISSION

The whole point of me starting this website up is to inspire both new and seasoned plant enthusiasts to plant more; and also inspire myself to do the same.

A lot of people don’t realise how easy it is to make new plants for free and I’d like to use this website to be at least a small part of helping to spread that knowledge.
